Annarita Camassa

Annarita Camassa was born in Puglia, in the south of Italy. Self-taught, she began painting out of pure passion — and that passion still drives everything: in her canvases emotion becomes colour, each work springs from a feeling lived through to the end and seeks the essential, returning it, with quiet delicacy, to the viewer.

The feather is her signature, and far more than a signature: it is the gentle touch of an angel, the sign of the profound bond that ties her to her son, her angel. It returns in almost every work — sometimes the subject, sometimes a hidden detail — like a presence that never stops walking beside her.

From this bond comes «Leggera come una piuma» — “Light as a Feather”, 50 × 60 cm — the work that more than any other holds the meaning of her search: a tender narrative in which love, loss and enduring presence share the same canvas, with no need for words.

A universal symbol of lightness and spirituality, the feather opens onto a world of nature and landscapes: fields in bloom crossed by winding paths, butterflies set free in the air, gulls in flight and, above all, the blues — those of the sea and the sky, which often merge into a single horizon.

She paints in oils, laid by hand in glazes and layers. Each canvas seeks a balance between fullness and emptiness, between matter and suspension, so that emotion arrives directly: a language that needs no translation and speaks to the soul.
